Construction safety software: JHAs, toolbox talks and incident reports
Job hazard analyses signed by the crew on a phone, a library of 89 toolbox talks in English and Spanish, incident reports with OSHA recordable flags, and inspection checklists, all time-stamped, all exportable to PDF, and all in the same project as the daily report.
Safety paperwork that actually gets done
A safety program is only as good as the paperwork the crew fills out at 6:45 in the morning. Paper JHAs get rained on, sign-in sheets go missing, and toolbox talks are read once and never documented. When an inspector, an owner or an insurance carrier asks for proof, the office spends a day digging.
Trakend puts every safety record on the phone the foreman already carries, tied to the project and the date, so it rolls into the daily report and the end-of-day PDF automatically.
Job hazard analyses (JHAs) with crew sign-in
Subcontractors working on your projects can create JHAs for their own company, so the GC sees every crew's hazard analysis in one place.
- Basic info: date, crew or subcontractor, job task, location and supervisor.
- Pick lists for 25 common hazards, 15 permits, 20 trainings, PPE and controls, plus your own custom hazards and controls.
- A job steps table: each step with its hazards and controls.
- Equipment inspections, site conditions and environmental notes.
- Emergency procedures filled in from project settings: emergency contact, foreman, nearest hospital and Call 911. Trakend can look up the closest hospitals to the jobsite (address, phone and distance) when you set up the project.
- Crew sign-in sheet with name, time in, time out and a finger-drawn signature, including one-tap time in/out for the whole crew.
- Approval signature, photos, PDF export, and Duplicate to date to reuse yesterday's JHA without copying old signatures.
89 toolbox talks in English and Spanish
Trakend includes a library of 89 toolbox talk articles in 12 categories, each with a title, key points and a full article, and every one is available in both English and Spanish. Pick a topic from the catalog or write your own.
Each talk records the date, presenter, length, language, topic and notes, and the attendees sign in with name, company and signature. The PDF prints the article in the language you held the talk in, followed by the signed attendance sheet. That is the documentation your safety manager and your insurance carrier want to see.
Incident and near-miss reports
- Type: near miss, first aid, medical, lost time, property damage or environmental.
- Severity from low to critical, what happened, root cause, corrective actions, witnesses and status.
- Injury details: injured person, body part, treatment (first aid, clinic, ER, hospitalized or refused) and an OSHA recordable flag.
- Who was notified and when, whether the GC was notified, and a follow-up owner and due date.
- Photos and a PDF export. Incident reports are also included in the Finalize Day bundle.
Safety checklists and fillable forms
Inspections run through Trakend's checklists: sections of items marked Pass, Fail or N/A, each with an optional photo and note, signed off and closed out as a branded PDF. Trakend ships 34 ready-made checklist templates, including 15 safety checklists and a Spanish trench and excavation checklist. Use them as-is or duplicate and edit them; our updates never overwrite your copies.
For permits and sign-in sheets you already use, upload any PDF and place text, date, checkbox and signature fields on it. Stock forms include a daily sign-in sheet, pre-task plan, hot work permit, confined space entry permit, excavation/dig permit and daily equipment inspection.
Part of the whole job, on every plan
Safety records live next to the project's drawings, schedule and time clock, so the at-clock-out "were you hurt today?" question, the incident report and the day's JHA all point at the same date and crew. Safety is included on every Trakend plan with no add-on fee. See pricing or start a free trial.
Frequently asked questions
What is a JHA in construction?
A job hazard analysis (JHA, also called a JSA or pre-task plan) breaks a task into steps, lists the hazards for each step, and records the controls and PPE used to manage them. The crew reviews and signs it before work starts. Trakend's JHA includes hazard, permit, training and PPE pick lists, a job steps table and a crew sign-in sheet with signatures and times.
Are the toolbox talks available in Spanish?
Yes. All 89 toolbox talk articles in Trakend's library are available in English and Spanish, and the PDF prints the article in the language the talk was given in, followed by the signed attendance sheet.
Can I track OSHA recordable incidents?
Trakend's incident report has an OSHA recordable flag along with injury type, body part, treatment, witnesses, root cause and corrective actions. Each report exports to PDF. Trakend does not file OSHA forms for you.
Can subcontractors fill out JHAs on my project?
Yes. Subcontractors you add to a project can create and edit JHAs for their own company at no cost to them, so the GC has every crew's hazard analysis in one place.
Do I need a separate safety app?
Not for JHAs, toolbox talks, incident reports and inspection checklists. They are part of every Trakend plan and roll into the same end-of-day PDF as the daily report.
