Construction plan viewer and drawing management
Upload the drawing set once. Trakend splits it into sheets, reads each sheet's number, title, discipline and revision, keeps revisions in order, and gives your field team a fast viewer with markup, measuring and RFI pins on any phone, tablet or computer.
The problem with a 400-page PDF
Most drawing sets arrive as one enormous PDF. Someone in the office spends an afternoon splitting it, naming files and emailing links, and the field still ends up working off a sheet that was superseded two revisions ago. When the next ASI comes in, the whole cycle repeats.
Trakend's plan room is built to make the current set the only set anybody sees, without the office doing it by hand.
Upload a package, get organized sheets
- Upload a multi-page PDF drawing package. Large sets upload in chunks, so a big file over a jobsite connection doesn't have to make it in one shot.
- A background job works through the package page by page. It reads the sheet number, title, discipline and revision from the PDF's text first, and uses Maya, Trakend's AI, to read the title block when the text isn't clear, which also handles scanned sheets.
- It learns the set's patterns as it goes, and you review and correct each page before confirming, so nothing is filed under the wrong number.
- Single sheets can be uploaded as a PDF or image at any time.
- Organize sheets into named, color-coded drawing sets and filter by discipline.
Revisions that supersede automatically
When you upload a sheet whose number already exists, Trakend files it as a new revision (A, B, C and on to AA) and makes it the current sheet. The previous versions stay in the sheet's revision history, so you can always show what the drawing said on the day the work was installed, but nobody opens the old one by accident.
A viewer built for the field
- Zoom at the cursor, pan, pinch to zoom on phones and tablets, full screen, and a sheet rail to jump between sheets. Works with mouse, pen and touch.
- Measure distance, area and perimeter after calibrating the sheet's scale; the calibration is saved per sheet.
- Markup tools: pen, highlighter, box, cloud, arrow, text, colors, undo and clear.
- Each person draws on their own markup layer. Teammates' layers show read-only and refresh automatically, so the super's notes and the PM's clouds never overwrite each other.
- Drop an RFI pin on the exact spot in question. The RFI shows a small preview of the sheet with the pin, and an Open sheet link goes straight back to it.
Subcontractors on the same set
Subcontractors you add to a project can view the drawings and add their own markups, with authorship tracked separately for sub users and your employees. They don't pay for a seat. Drawing sheets also appear in the project's File Library, so documents and drawings live in one place.
CAD files too
Alongside PDF sheets, you can store CAD and model files on the project: DWG, DXF, RVT, IFC, SKP, 3DM, STEP, STL and more. DWG files preview right in the browser; other formats are stored for download so everyone pulls the same file.
Connected to RFIs, daily reports and the schedule
Drawings are one part of a project that also holds RFIs and submittals, daily reports and the schedule. Plan management is included on every plan, with storage from 200 GB on Small Team up to 10 TB on Enterprise Unlimited. See pricing, or read how Trakend compares with Procore.
Frequently asked questions
Can Trakend split a drawing set into individual sheets?
Yes. Upload a multi-page PDF package and Trakend splits it into sheets, reading each sheet's number, title, discipline and revision. You review and confirm each page before it's filed.
How are drawing revisions handled?
Uploading a sheet with an existing sheet number creates a new revision and makes it the current sheet. Earlier revisions stay in the sheet's revision history.
Can I mark up and measure drawings on a tablet?
Yes. The viewer supports pinch-to-zoom and pen input, with pen, highlighter, box, cloud, arrow and text markups, plus distance, area and perimeter measuring after you calibrate the sheet's scale.
Can I open DWG files?
DWG files preview in the browser. Other CAD and model formats (DXF, RVT, IFC, SKP and more) can be stored on the project and downloaded.
Do subcontractors need a paid account to see drawings?
No. Subcontractors you add to a project can view drawings and add their own markups for free.
