Construction daily report app
Your superintendent fills out the daily report on a phone in a few minutes: weather fills itself in, crews and man-hours add up automatically, and photos attach to the day. One tap on Finalize Day emails a branded PDF of the whole day to the owner, the architect and the office.
Why paper and spreadsheet dailies fall apart
Every jobsite runs on a daily log, and most of them are still a clipboard, a texted photo, or a spreadsheet someone retypes at night. The result is predictable: reports come in late, crew counts don't match the time cards, photos live on a foreman's phone, and when a delay claim or a dispute shows up six months later nobody can find what happened on the 14th.
Trakend's daily report is built for the person standing on the slab. It is one screen, it works from any phone or computer, and it ties the report to everything else that happened on the project that day: photos, JHAs, toolbox talks, incident reports and checklists.
What a Trakend daily report captures
Each project gets one daily report per date, with the fields a GC or sub actually needs when they look back at the job:
- Weather that fills in automatically from the project's zip code for the report date: high and low temperature, wind, precipitation, with separate morning and afternoon readings. You can refresh it or type over it.
- A weather-impact flag with hours lost and a note, so weather delays are documented the day they happen.
- Crews: add as many as you need. Each crew has a name, members picked from your roster, number of workers, hours each and the work performed. Man-hours are calculated for you.
- Work description, materials delivered, equipment on site, visitors, inspections, delays and issues, safety notes and general notes.
- Photos linked to the report or to that date, at full resolution.
- Checklists completed that day (pre-pour checks, equipment inspections, QA walks) with their pass / fail / N/A results, if the project is set up to include them.
Crews pre-filled from the weekly planner
If your team plans the week in Trakend's weekly planner, new daily reports start with the crews planned for that day already filled in. The super only adjusts what changed. Nothing they've typed is ever overwritten.
Submit, approve, then Finalize Day
Reports move from Draft to "Ready to finalize" to Approved. When a report is submitted, everyone with approval rights on the project is notified, so the PM or superintendent can review it the same evening.
Finalize Day is the step that saves the most office time. It gathers the day's daily report, JHAs, toolbox talks and incident reports (plus checklists, if you turn that on) into one server-rendered PDF with your company logo and colors. Trakend files that PDF in the project's Files and emails it to the project's distribution list. Large bundles over 10 MB go out as a download link instead of an attachment.
The finalize panel shows delivery status for each recipient (Delivered, Sending, Failed), with Resend and Finalize again buttons. Projects can be set to lock the day after it's finalized, so the record can't change without someone deliberately unfinalizing it.
Built for the field, not the office chair
- Works in any phone browser, and in the Trakend iOS app on the App Store. The phone app keeps a sync queue, so reports and photos entered with poor signal upload when the connection comes back.
- Big tap targets and short forms. The report is one screen, not a 12-step wizard.
- Role-based permissions: foremen and workers can write and edit the reports they created, while superintendents and PMs approve.
- Every report also exports to its own branded PDF with photos whenever you need it.
Daily reports connected to the rest of the job
Because the daily report lives in the same project as your JHAs and toolbox talks, drawings, RFIs and T&M tickets, the record of each day is complete without anyone copying information between apps. Maya, Trakend's AI assistant, can find a past report for you when you ask a question like "who was on site last Tuesday?"
Daily reports are included on every Trakend plan. Plans are flat monthly prices, not per-user fees, and subcontractors join your projects free. See pricing or compare us with Raken, a popular per-user field reporting app.
Frequently asked questions
What should a construction daily report include?
At minimum: date, weather and any weather delays, crews on site with headcount and hours, work performed, materials delivered, equipment on site, visitors and inspections, delays or issues, safety notes, and photos. Trakend's daily report has a field for each of these, and weather fills in automatically from the project's zip code.
Can foremen fill out daily reports on their phone?
Yes. The daily report works in any phone browser and in the Trakend iOS app. The phone app queues entries and photos and syncs them when signal comes back.
Who receives the daily report?
When you tap Finalize Day, Trakend emails a single branded PDF of the day's daily report, JHAs, toolbox talks and incident reports to the project's distribution list, which you set per project (for example the owner, architect and office). It also saves a copy in the project's Files.
Can I stop a daily report from being changed after it's sent?
Yes. Turn on lock-after-finalize in project settings and the day becomes read-only for everyone until someone with permission unfinalizes it.
How much does the daily report app cost?
Daily reports are included in every Trakend plan. Plans start at $29.99/month for 2 users, and Enterprise Unlimited is $999/month with unlimited users. There is a 30-day free trial.
